One of the new features in FM7/8 is the ability to construct Auto-enter calculations based on referencing and altering the field itself. This is a very powerful method of, for example, ensuring that data is formatted in the most appropriate way, to some extent independently of the way the data is entered - telephone number formatting springs to mind. It also allows complex calculations to be done when fields are changed without having the disadvantages of a calculation field, that is, not modifiable by the user (some may think that is the major advantage of a calculation field).

What I would like to suggest is that users of fmfaq should put up their favorite auto-enter methods and calculations in the Quick Tips - Fields section. Some time ago I put up one such auto-enter lookup and I would love to see what other are up to.
